Campaign: Eames Shell Chair Re-introduction

In 2014, Herman Miller re-introduced the Eames Fiberglass Shell Chair, expanding the ubiquitous chair’s offer of materials and finish options. For the launch, we were challenged to convey the collection’s heirloom quality, versatile uses, and depth of offer. 

Inspiration

After spending time in the corporate archives sifting through ephemera and drawing from our personal experiences of Shell Chair encounters in laundromats, class rooms, offices, and flea markets, we storyboarding a sentimental story of an Eames Rocker.

Outcome

We partnered with illustrator, Bill Porter, to craft a whimsical, short animation that spoke to the chair’s timelessness and lifecycle. This video was one of the many assets created to promote the launch.
